Asher Watkins, 52 years old popular millionaire trophy hunter from Texas, USA has been gored to death by a charged cape Buffalo he was stalking for a kill during safari hunting in Limpopo province, South Africa.
The company that organised the hunt, Coenraad Vermaak Safaris confirmed that Watkins who was a client and friend to the entity was killed by a 1300kg weight Buffalo always referred to as the “black death” by hunters.
Watkins who was widely known as a professional hunter with the taste for ‘big meat’ was in the company of another professional hunter and tracker at the time of the attack.
His death comes as a shock to his former wife and daughter whom he left behind.
“It’s a reality that’s still hard to put into words. Our hearts are heavy as we navigate the days ahead, especially for Savannah as she grieves her dad. We’ve been in a state of shock and heartbreak ever since, trying to process not just the loss, but the complexity that comes with it,” said Watkins wife.
Watkins will be remembered by the hunting community and the general public for the photos he posted social media of himself with mountain lions, deers and other animals he had killed.
While his family is mourning their loss, many X users who despise trophy hunters for killing innocent animals in the wild are celebrating his passing and calling it an example of karma.
