Around May 2025, a group of White South Africans (Afrikaners) left South Africa for the United States of America (USA) in a move to spite president Cyril Ramaphosa’s led Government of National Unity (GNU).
The group sided with president Donald Trump’s regime, claiming that white farmers in South Africa are being attacked and killed by black people. An accusation that no one has been able to prove to be correct.
According to sources, about 1000 of the 3500 Afrikaners admitted by Trump’s ‘refugee’ program have began the process of reclaiming their South African citizenship for two simple reasons, cost of living is too expensive in USA and integration is difficult.
Latest official records show that approximately 15000 white South African expats have returned home since 2022. While majority are back home due to hardship, some have relocated to South Africa for new investment and career opportunities.
Leaving for America is a betrayal of the South African government, but a new portal (Citizenship Reinstatement Portal) launched in November 2025 allows the Afrikaners to legally recover their citizenship.
The opportunity to reclaim citizens shines light on the high level of democracy in South Africa. More so, allowing traitors to return home proves that the Government of National serves its citizens with transparency.
The world can now see that President Trump’s accusation of racial oppression against white South African was a nothing more than a hoax.
“When a child is beaten outside, they come home to cry” is the sentiment expressed by many South Africans on social media platforms regarding the Afrikaners’ return.
