Maurice Sam: From Acid to YouTube millions

Maurice Samuel Oluwaseun, also known as Maurice Sam, was born on March 12, 1990, in Lagos, Nigeria and is one of Africa’s most beloved actors.

Maurice Sam is originally from Imo state and he was raised in Lagos city, where he discovered his interest in acting while performing with his church drama group. He later attended University of Lagos, where he studied Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication.

Sam got his big break as Acid in the Nigerian comic TV series known as Hustle, and he has since acted in numerous Nollywood films. He is a multi-talented actor who also works as a DJ and a model.

Sam has gained a reputation in Hollywood as a ‘rude boy’ and a ‘loverboy’ and possess a magnetic and memorable on-screen presence.

Sam’s engaging content and diligent demeanour have earned him a prominent position in the African film industry, as well as a high influencer status amongst young people.

His YouTube channel, Maurice Sam TV has 2.47 million subscribers, establishing Sam as a household name in Nollywood, and serves as proof that his dedication and versatility are well recognised.

Sam’s recent films, ‘Wild Fire’ starring Onyii Alex and Audrey Harrison, was released three weeks ago and has received about 2.6 millions views. ‘Something Borrowed’ with Chioma Nwaoha has 3.7 million views, while ‘Man Of The Year’ alongside Sarian Martin is leading with 5.7 million views.

The comedy series Hustle, in which Maurice Sam played Acid, aired on Africa Magic, and other cast members included brilliant actors such as Seun Ajayi, late Sola Sobowale, Seyi Law, Stephanie Coker, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, Namisi Govin Emma, Elvis Poko, Deborah Anugwa, Deborah Bassey, John Joshua, Tobi Bakre and Afeez Oyetoro.
