Cameroon: Mixed Martial Artist and Boxer Francis Zavier Ngannou ‘escapes’ involuntary manslaughter accusations.
According to autopsy, 17 years old Ntsama Brigitte Manuella who Ngannou struck with his motorcycle in Yaoundé, capital city of Cameroon during the easter weekend died at the hospital due to anesthesia overdose and negligence by some hospital staff and not from injuries as previously reported by some media outlets.
The attached Communiqué Officiel (official communication) document from Yaoundé Court of First Instance assures the public that the hospital will be held responsible for Ntsama’s demise and justice will be served.
Ngannou who told TMZ Sports on the 2nd of May 2025 that he has been giving his full support to Ntsama’s family has not made any statement regarding the autopsy. “From the very beginning, I have been by the family’s side, offering support, comfort, and deepest condolences during this time. I’ve met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way.” said Ngannou.
It is alleged that during the time of the accident, the UFC former champion was not in possession of driving licence which permitted him to ride the bike on a public road.
Cameroonian citizens who are outraged by the turn of events have called on government to hold Ngannou accountable for his actions.
These are very sad times for the former Heavyweight Champion who lost his 15 months old son in April 2024 from a brain malformation.
