A Nigerian national was shot dead in Randburg, South Africa by security guards of popular drug busting televison show, Sizok’thola (We will Catch You) hosted by Action `SA political party mayoral candidate Xolani Khumalo.
According to reports reaching Critique Africa, the 45 years old Nigerian man targeted during a raid by the television show was suspected to be a drug dealer. It is not yet clear how he was shot.
Action `SA has confirmed that Khumalo was present during the anti-drug operation yesterday, 08 February 2026 which ended up with the killing of the Nigerian man.
This is not the first time Khumalo and the television show have been accused of assaulting or killing individuals suspected of being involved in the sale of illicit drugs and substances.
Khumalo previously faced charges relating to murder, theft and malicious damage to property in a separate incident dating back to July 2023. A 49 years old man by the name of Robert Varrie died in the hospital after Khumalo and his team interrogated and assaulted him in his home.
Members of South African Police Service (SAPS) are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the Nigerian national yesterday. So far, it can be confirmed that there is no concrete evidence linking the deceased to drug business.
Sizok’thola is amongst one of the many organisations condemned by South African government and human rights bodies for taking the law into their hands through vigilante activities.
Moja Love, the South African digital satellite television general entertainment channel where Sizok’thola is aired has not yet made a statement regarding the incident.
