Sema Ngale Fonkem is a journalist who has a passion in the art of storytelling and well adapt in the aspect of cross-platform media journalism, an area of focus. Fonkem’s beats are entertainment news, current affairs, and politics in delivering forthright journalism to a variety of audience with his far-right viewpoints. He is an excellent radio presenter with a great voice, copywriter, video producer, public relations officer, and multimedia consultant. Fonkem is also a human rights activist who has spoken highly against jungle justice and bad governance in the Central African region. Born in Limbe, South West province of Cameroon, in the 1980s, Fonkem executes very well in both French and English language and is experienced in the Central Africa, West Africa, North Africa and Southern Africa regions.
Sema Ngale Fonkem is the eldest of three children born to late Cameroonian renowned Journalist, Media Consultant and Author Sam Nuvala Fonkem. His mother Jane Joffi Eko is an accountant and educationalist. His father is from the Bali Nyonga tribe in the North West province of Cameroon while his mother is a Bakwerian from the South West province. Fonkem attended Baptist High School boarding school in Great Soppo, Buea and Bilingual Grammar School Molyko where developed an interest in drama, music, and communication. He moved to South Africa in mid 2000 and studied TV Presenting at City Varsity, Cape Town in 2009 and Film Production at the prestigious African Film and Dram Academy (AFDA), Cape Town in 2011. With determination, Fonkem also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast journalism from Boston Media House in Sandton in 2024.
His career began as co-host at Mount Cameroon FM in 2003. Fonkem worked alongside his late father in 2005 as a junior public relations officer at Cameroon Multimedia Council. Fonkem has several years of experience as a song writer, award-winning Hip-Hop artist, classical harmonica musician and performer. Fonkem worked as a transcriber at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC 3) in 2012. He also did Television acting, film production, theatre, and voice coaching while living in Cape Town, South Africa before embarking on another journey to study journalism at Boston Media House in Sandton. Fonkem has been practicing journalism since 2022 and has written several articles for Orgella Entertainment in politics, entertainment, business and sports. Critique Africa is his personal blog where he writes and publishes his articles uninterruptedly.
