For the first time in history, you may see a US president go to court with an African comedian over a joke.
US president Donald Trump has threatened to sue South African born comedian Trevor Noah over a bad Epstein joke made during the Grammys yesterday.
While hosting the 2026 Grammy Awards, Noah known for his clever satire said that Trump needs Greenland island as new hangout spot with former US president Bill Clinton.
“Song of the year, congratulations Billie Eilish, Wow. That is the Grammy that every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense, I mean because Eptein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hangout with Bill Clinton. I told you it’s my last year. What are you going to do about it?” Noah said while the crowd cheered him.
President Trump did not take the joke lightly and has promised to sue Noah for a lot of cash.
“It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty. Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media. Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you.” Trump wrote on Truth Social in response to Noah’s joke
While this might sound a like joke, Trump actually has grounds for a lawsuit. This is so because Noah’s statement sounds conclusive even though it has not been legally proven that the US incumbent president has ever been to Epstein island. But Trump will have to prove that Noah had malicious intent and show the joke has caused reputational damage for a defamation case to hold water.
