US millionaire hunter crushed by Elephants on African soil

Ernie Dosio, a 75-year old Millionaire from the United States of America was killed by Elephants while hunting in the  Lope-Okanda rainforest in Gabon

During the incident which occurred on Friday, April 24, 2026, Dosio and his guide were hunting yellow-backed duiker, an antelope species, when they came across five female elephants and a calf.

According to safari operator Collect Africa, Dosio died as a result of severe injuries sustained during his encounter with elephants.

Dosio, a vineyard owner from Lodi, California, started hunting at a young age and has spent a lot of time in Central Africa’s forests. He was a big-game hunter who had killed several elephants and collected numerous trophies in Africa and the United States.

Every year, wealthy trophy hunters from all around the world kill hundreds of elephants and thousands of other wild animals.

Big-game hunting in Africa is a profitable industry, attracting many clients from the United States. While some win, others are not so fortunate and are eliminated after a few rounds.

In August 2025, Asher Watkins, 52 years old popular millionaire trophy hunter from Texas, USA was killed by.charged Cape Buffalo while hunting in South Africa.

The US Embassy in Gabon is making arrangements to return Dosio’s remains to California.
