A Los Angeles court found 63-year-old former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty of first-degree murder for the September 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur, following thirty years of conjecture from the public, especially conspiracy theorists worldwide.
Although Davis did not shoot Tupac, he was in charge of plotting the September 7, 1996, murder that happened close to the Las Vegas strip. He is the only one who has ever been put on trial for the murder.
Findings by the 12-person jury show that Keffe D orchestrated Tupac Shakur’s murder as payback for Shakur and his friends attacking Davis’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, inside the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas earlier that evening.
Keffe D who belonged to the South Side Compton Crips based in the city of Compton California bragged about the drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur in his book Compton Street Legend: Notorious Keffe D’s Street-Level Accounts of Tupac and Biggie Murders, Death Row Origins, Suge Knight, Puffy Combs, and Crooked Cops.
The memoir was co-written with Yusuf Jah and published in 2019, it recounts Keffe D’s life in the streets and his connection to the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur.
While searching Keffe D’s house for evidence, detectives found 40-caliber bullets and firearm cartridges, Copies of his memoir Compton Street Legend, handwritten notes, ledgers, and papers. Multiple computers, cellphones, hard drives, tablets, and digital storage devices, two large black bins filled with photographs, photo albums, and old magazine articles and newspaper clippings about the 1996 murder.
Tupac was murdered at the age of 25 after attending a Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon match at the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas. His music continues to have a significant impact on the rap music industry.
