A possible serial killer on the prowl, the bodies of 10 women, three mass shootings with 38 people killed and a distraught South African Police Service.

While members of the South Africa Police Service are busy probing the killings of nine women in the east of Johannesburg, a 10th body has been discovered of another woman who was killed and dumbed in a cemetery in Tembisa township, north-eat of Johannesburg city..

In the early hours of today, 17 people including thirteen males and four females were shot dead at a Tavern (beer bar) in Wedela community, West Rand. It is reported that 15 others were also injured after suspects armed with Ak-47 opened fire at the victims.

In Lwandle community, Western Cape province 10 people were shot dead with 11 persons injured during a shooting at a braai (barbecue) venue. The victims were patrons having a good time at the business premises.

On September 23, 2026, 11 people including a pregnant woman were killed after suspects opened fire at a house in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal province.

The three mass shootings that have left 38 people dead, and the murders of 10 women by an unknown suspect adds to the record of nearly 6000 homicide cases recorded from April 2025 to present.

South African Police Service (SAPS) has called on residents to remain vigilant while they continue to carry out investigations and wait for results from the manhunt that has been launched to bring suspects to book.
